Tallahassee, FL – Angela Morrison officially announced her departure from Hopping, Green & Sams on February 1, 2014, to open Morrison Environmental Law in Tallahassee, Florida. Morrison was a senior partner at Hopping, Green & Sams, where she practiced environmental law for 24 years. She has now ventured out on her own to open a solo environmental law practice focused primarily on air quality and climate change issues.
Regarding her decision to open a solo practice, Morrison said, "I enjoyed and greatly benefited from practicing with so many talented colleagues for more than two decades. As a solo practitioner, I will be able to assist my clients with more flexibility while focusing on air quality and climate-change related matters. I don't plan to miss a beat and look forward to meeting with clients and colleagues in the near future."
Angela has enjoyed a long career of representing electric utilities, independent power producers, phosphate, cement, chemical and other manufacturers throughout Florida. She primarily assists with air permitting, and associated air compliance and enforcement matters, for major air emission sources. She has also participated in a number of important air rulemakings undertaken by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection resulting from the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments, and has commented on air rules proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, including those addressing greenhouse gas emissions.
With her intense focus on air quality related issues, she has become a frequent presenter at state and national environmental conferences and she has written a number of published articles. Angela was formerly the Chair of the American Bar Association Environmental, Energy, and Resources Section Air Quality Committee, a position which she held for three terms, and she later chaired the ABA Section’s 2012 Fall Conference. Currently, she is the Editor in Chief of Trends, the ABA Section’s bi-monthly newsletter. She has also been active with the Air and Waste Management Association, and last year she Co-Chaired the Florida Section’s 2013 Annual Conference held in Tallahassee.
Morrison’s office is located in Tallahassee, just minutes away from the Department of Environmental Protection’s offices for the Division of Air Resource Management. “Because I routinely update my clients on matters pending before the Division, and because I often facilitate meetings between my clients and the Division staff, easy access to their offices is important. Change is in the air, though! I intend to take full advantage of my portable practice by traveling throughout the state to meet with select clients on a regular basis to help me better appreciate their regulatory concerns and develop appropriately responsive strategies."
